This decision comes after a robust Participatory Budgeting process that saw over 6,000 votes from local residents, highlighting significant community engagement. The skate park will be located under I-705, utilizing an underused urban space to foster youth-oriented activities and artistic expression. District 2 Council Member Sarah Rumbaugh expressed her admiration for the active participation of residents, especially young people, in shaping their community. This project not only aims to beautify the area but also to strengthen connections between the Dome District and the waterfront.

Implementation is slated to begin in 2025, marking a transformative step for the community.
