The City of Tacoma has formed a new integrated office within the City Manager’s Office to enhance effectiveness and coordination across key departments, including Strategy, Environmental Policy and Sustainability, Equity and Human Rights, and Government Relations. This initiative aims to create a unified vision for Tacoma’s future, focusing on equity and environmentally responsible practices. City Manager Elizabeth Pauli highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving shared community goals and maximizing resource use. Deputy City Manager Sonja Hallum will lead this effort, supported by Jacques Colon as Chief Strategy Officer and Interim Chief Equity Officer, along with Kristin Lynett as Chief Sustainability Officer. The city also plans to undertake a strategic review of its human rights and fair housing programs to ensure these priorities remain at the forefront.

Progress will be monitored and reported in the upcoming year to maintain accountability and transparency. The official name of the integrated office is still in development, and implementation timelines will be shared as they become available. This proactive approach underscores Tacoma’s commitment to fostering equity and sustainability within the community.
