Nourishing generations with Feeding Our Future

Tacoma, WALocal News

The Making A Difference Foundation has launched "Feeding Our Future," a groundbreaking program targeting youth aged 16-25, aimed at enhancing food security and empowering young entrepreneurs. Under the visionary leadership of Ahndrea Blue, this initiative teaches participants hands-on hydroponics techniques to cultivate microgreens and other crops, providing them with valuable agricultural skills. Alongside this practical training, the program incorporates business coaching, enabling students to understand the farming industry and how to succeed in various business pursuits. Participants also receive stipends for their involvement, addressing the financial challenges many face while helping their families. The harvested microgreens play a dual role by enhancing local nutrition and serving as a revenue source for the students.

Scholarships are available at the end of the program, further supporting their educational aspirations in agriculture or business. The program not only focuses on immediate needs but also fosters long-term community impact, reflecting the foundation's commitment to creating sustainable futures. As Blue aptly notes, this initiative can be a "gamechanger" for families, providing both food security and entrepreneurial opportunities.
