Rebuilding Hope marks a milestone

Tacoma, WALocal News

Rebuilding Hope Sexual Assault Center has marked a significant milestone by opening its first dedicated building in Hilltop, a pivotal step in enhancing its visibility and accessibility for victim-survivors in Pierce and Kitsap counties. Situated at 723 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, the center is strategically located near public transportation, ensuring easy access for those seeking assistance. Unlike many domestic violence shelters, Rebuilding Hope operates with a visible presence, aiming to inform the community about its vital services, which include therapy, advocacy, and legal support. The newly renovated space nearly doubles their operational capacity, allowing for more comprehensive programs and community engagement activities.

An open house was held to invite the community into the space, which has been thoughtfully designed to create a welcoming and supportive environment. Executive Director Carlyn Sampson highlighted the necessity of raising awareness about the center, noting that many still do not know it exists. The facility also features dedicated areas for educational workshops and support groups, reflecting Rebuilding Hope's commitment to serve and empower victim-survivors. This new chapter represents not just a physical space, but a renewed opportunity for the center to grow its impact in the community.
