County brings films for seniors, caregivers

In an effort to support seniors and their caregivers, Pierce County Human Services is hosting a free film series themed "Laughter is the Best Medicine. " The initiative begins on January 11 with the screening of "Robot and Frank," which tells the heartwarming story of a former jewel thief with dementia who develops a unique friendship with a robot designed to assist him. On February 8, attendees can enjoy "A Walk in the Woods," featuring the adventures of travel writer Bill Bryson as he embarks on a challenging hike along the Appalachian Trail. The series concludes on March 8 with "Unfinished Song," a touching film about a pensioner who finds solace and connection through a local choir after the loss of his wife. Each film not only entertains but also resonates deeply with the experiences of family caregivers, highlighting the importance of companionship and understanding in caregiving roles.

By offering these screenings, Pierce County aims to foster a sense of community and provide emotional support for those navigating the challenges of caring for loved ones.
