Humane Society announces Poorly Drawn Pets fundraiser

Tacoma, WALocal News

The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County is excited to announce its sixth annual "Poorly Drawn Pets" fundraiser, which will take place on January 21, 2025. This unique event allows pet owners to contribute $25 to submit a photo of their beloved pets, which will then be transformed into charming, imperfect portraits by dedicated volunteers. By moving the fundraiser from social media to its official website, the Humane Society hopes to boost accessibility and participation among the community. Director of Development Beth Brooks highlighted the event's dual purpose: raising funds and creating cherished keepsakes that celebrate the bond between pets and their owners. Last year, the fundraiser raised over $23,000, illustrating the strong community support and interest in the initiative.

With more than 750 portraits crafted by volunteers, the event has become a beloved tradition. This year’s changes aim to engage a broader audience, making it easier for anyone to support the animals in the shelter's care. Overall, the "Poorly Drawn Pets" fundraiser exemplifies the Humane Society’s commitment to animal welfare and community involvement.
