Downtown Puyallup about to grow

Tacoma, WALocal News

Downtown Puyallup is poised for revitalization as the city council considers plans for the Cornforth-Campbell property, a 1. 5-acre site that has been largely unused for years. Currently serving as public parking, this city-owned land will be developed in collaboration with Palindrome Communities, aiming to create a mixed-use space that benefits the community. An open house on January 28 will allow residents to engage with the developer and provide feedback on the proposed project. Public Affairs Officer Eric Johnson emphasized the importance of transforming this area, stating that it has become blighted over time.

By introducing new housing and commercial options, the city hopes to invigorate downtown and attract more visitors and residents alike. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance the urban environment and create lively public spaces in Puyallup. Community involvement is encouraged, reflecting the city’s commitment to transparency and collaboration in local development efforts. This project represents a significant step forward in the city's long-term vision for downtown growth and sustainability.
