Kiara Daniels named deputy mayor

Kiara Daniels has been appointed Tacoma's Deputy Mayor for 2025, taking over from John Hines. Additionally, Daniels has championed affordable housing initiatives, including the Anti-Displacement Strategy and the regional Black Homeownership Initiative.

Her commitment to social issues is evident in her successful push for expanded childcare services, benefiting low-income families. Furthermore, she is overseeing the reauthorization of Tacoma Creates, which supports arts and culture in the city. Daniels' appointment signals a proactive approach to tackling Tacoma's evolving challenges and enhancing community welfare.
