Seniors gifted with Valentines love

Tacoma, WALocal News

Local seniors were treated to a delightful Valentine's Day surprise as volunteers from Tacoma Public Utilities and Lutheran Community Services Northwest delivered cupcakes and handmade cards to brighten their spirits. This initiative, part of the Santa for Seniors program, aims to foster connections with elderly individuals who may lack family support, ensuring they feel valued and loved. Volunteers split into teams to deliver the treats, visiting Salishan and Rosa Franklin Place, where many seniors appreciated the thoughtful gestures. The event not only brought joy to the recipients but also showcased the community's commitment to supporting its senior citizens. This year's treats were provided by Spilled Butter Desserts, a woman-owned micro-bakery in Tacoma renowned for its classic American desserts.

By selecting local businesses like Spilled Butter, the partnership underscores the importance of community support and the impact of small enterprises. Susan Nocella, the director of Santa for Seniors, expressed her enthusiasm for the annual event, emphasizing the joy it brings. This heartwarming initiative highlights the significance of caring for the elderly in the community, particularly those who may be isolated or alone.
