Four judges take office in Pierce County

The Pierce County Superior Court has welcomed four new judges who were elected in November 2024, with Scott Peters and Rebecca Reeder starting their terms on January 13, 2025. Peters, an experienced Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, has held various leadership roles within the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office and is recognized for his extensive trial experience. Reeder, who has spent her legal career in private practice, brings a wealth of knowledge in civil law, particularly in probate and family law. Both judges are committed to their communities, with Peters actively involved in initiatives supporting children and Reeder volunteering in multiple organizations, including YWCA Pierce County. The transition in the judiciary is significant as it affects how legal matters are handled in the region, highlighting the importance of experienced leadership in the court system.

The judges are also scheduled to attend Judicial College to enhance their judicial skills. This change comes at a time when the community is looking for stability and expertise in its legal system. Their backgrounds and community engagement position them well to serve the diverse needs of Pierce County residents.
