Tacoma Humane Society brings back 'Poorly Drawn Pets' fundraiser

Tacoma, WALocal News

The Tacoma Humane Society's "Poorly Drawn Pets" fundraiser has returned for its sixth year, running from January 21 to 22, 2025, with the goal of raising funds for animal care. For a $25 donation, artistic volunteers will create personalized, unique portraits of pets based on submitted photos, fostering a sense of community and creativity. Last year's event was notably successful, generating over $23,000 and producing more than 750 portraits, demonstrating significant local support. Beth Brooks, the development director, highlights the joy and lasting memories these portraits create, even if they don’t promise artistic perfection. Notably, the fundraiser has transitioned to an online submission format this year, allowing for greater accessibility and engagement from a broader audience.

This change aims to foster inclusivity and encourage more pet owners to participate in supporting animals in need. Participants have until 5 p. m. on January 22 to submit their photos and donations, and completed portraits will be sent via email. This initiative not only raises funds but also celebrates the bond between pets and their owners, making it a meaningful event for the Tacoma community.
