Two Pierce County residents, Eric Smith and Sara Thompson, have been sentenced for their involvement in a drug-trafficking ring connected to Aryan prison gangs, with Smith receiving 12 years and Thompson seven years in prison. Both individuals pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges, with Smith serving as a redistributor for the drug ring's leader, Jesse Bailey. Thompson, in a romantic relationship with another key figure in the operation, continued to sell drugs even after his arrest. U. S.

Attorney Tessa Gorman stated that their actions led to the distribution of hundreds of thousands of doses of dangerous drugs, severely impacting local communities. David F. Reames from the DEA noted that they facilitated the distribution of over a million potentially lethal doses of fentanyl. A large-scale investigation resulted in about two dozen arrests and the seizure of significant quantities of drugs, firearms, and cash. The community's well-being was gravely threatened by the activities of this drug-trafficking organization.

The ongoing legal proceedings will continue with the sentencing of other co-conspirators in the coming months.
