Woman suffers gunshot wound in Tacoma after incident began in Pierce County, police say

Tacoma, WALocal News

A woman was shot in Tacoma on Sunday afternoon, following a disturbance that began with an attempted burglary in Pierce County. Authorities received reports of the shooting around 1:30 PM, just half an hour after police responded to a home invasion attempt at an apartment complex in Parkland. The victim was not present during the break-in but monitored the situation via her Ring camera, witnessing five armed men trying to break down her sister's door. Despite attempts to deter the intruders with a fire extinguisher, the suspects fled in two vehicles before the shooting occurred. The victim is currently in stable condition at a local hospital, while police have not yet apprehended any suspects.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the timeline of events and is investigating the relationship between the two incidents. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are seeking additional information regarding the suspects, who were reported to be headed to Tacoma. This series of events raises concerns about public safety and the prevalence of violent crime in the area.
