New Apartment Building Under Construction in Downtown Puyallup

Tacoma, WALocal News

A new apartment complex is taking shape in downtown Puyallup, expected to provide 24 market-rate units upon completion in January 2026. Dubbed the 2nd Street Apartments, this $7 million project is spearheaded by Huber Properties LLC, owned by Dylan Huber. The development is located on a previously sunken lot across from Grayland Park, which had to be filled to accommodate the building. Huber is also planning a similar apartment project nearby and emphasizes the area's need for more multifamily housing options. With proximity to the Sounder train line and local businesses, these apartments are positioned to attract commuters seeking affordable living in the South Sound region.

Amenities will include dog walking areas and electric vehicle charging stations to cater to modern resident needs. Huber declined to disclose specific rent prices, but current averages in the area suggest competitive market rates. As Puyallup needs to add nearly 7,500 housing units by 2044, this project aligns with city efforts to address housing shortages.
