Lakewood Towne Center apartment project is focus of public hearing this month

Tacoma, WALocal News

The City of Lakewood will host a public hearing on January 24, 2025, to discuss a significant new apartment project, the Lakewood Towne Center Apartments Master Planned Development. The proposal includes the construction of 309 market-rate housing units, with a design comprising a five-story elevator-serviced building and seven garden-style buildings with three stories each. Additionally, the development aims to create over 40,000 square feet of common open space, along with 473 on-site parking stalls, enhancing the local infrastructure. Notably, the project requires the demolition and relocation of the current Barnes & Noble store, which will be moving to the former Dressbarn location within the shopping center. The public is invited to provide input during this hearing, which will be accessible both in-person and via Zoom.

The initiative is being developed by Alliance Residential of Seattle, indicating a strong interest in expanding housing options in the area. This project is crucial for addressing housing demand in Lakewood while maintaining community engagement through the public hearing.
