Amtrak train vs semi wrong turn leads to collision in Auburn travel delays follow

On January 18, 2025, a serious incident occurred in Auburn when an Amtrak train collided with a semi-truck that became stuck on the tracks, leading to disruptions in the Seattle-Tacoma area. The Auburn Police Department confirmed that the truck made a wrong turn at approximately 10:18 a. m. , causing it to become immobilized on the tracks at 29th and B streets Northwest. Thankfully, both the truck driver and passenger managed to escape without injury before the train struck.

The Amtrak train, which was carrying 157 passengers, reported no injuries among its travelers, allowing for a swift resolution on that front. However, the accident resulted in the closure of the southbound lane of B Street NW and significant delays for Amtrak services between Seattle and Tacoma. Authorities, including the Auburn Police, are looking into the factors that led to the truck's placement on the tracks to enhance safety measures. This incident highlights the dangers of improper navigation around train crossings and the potential consequences of such errors.
