Tacoma, WALocal News

A significant protest is scheduled for January 20 at Fireman’s Park in Tacoma, organized by a coalition of over 17 local organizations, including the Climate Alliance of the South Sound and the Tacoma Democratic Socialists of America. The rally aims to oppose the incoming Trump administration by advocating for women's rights, environmental protection, and workers' rights. Talison Crosby of Teamsters Local 174 voiced the concerns of many workers who fear deportation of their immigrant co-workers due to Trump's policies. Aife Pasquale of the Climate Alliance pointed out the environmental devastation experienced during Trump's earlier presidency, including the detrimental impact on orca populations and increased wildfires. The coalition emphasizes the necessity of standing up against these threats to both human and environmental welfare.

In addition to resisting U. S. imperialism, they aim to unite community members in their fight for a more equitable future. The protest reflects rising tensions surrounding immigration and environmental issues as Trump takes office again. Community members are invited to join the rally and amplify their collective voice against these pressing injustices.
