Amtrak Train Collides with Semi Truck in Auburn, Causing Travel Delays

On January 18, 2025, an Amtrak train collided with a semi truck in Auburn after the truck made an unfortunate wrong turn onto the train tracks. The incident occurred at approximately 10:18 a. m. , as reported by the Auburn Police Department. Fortunately, the truck's driver and occupant escaped without injuries prior to the collision, and all 157 passengers aboard the Amtrak train reported no harm.

The accident led to the closure of the southbound lane of B Street NW, resulting in significant travel delays in the Seattle-Tacoma area. Amtrak issued notices about delays in train operations between Seattle and Tacoma due to the incident. The police are currently investigating how the truck ended up on the tracks. This event highlights the importance of careful navigation around train tracks to prevent similar accidents in the future. Local authorities are expected to take measures to ensure such incidents are minimized moving forward.
