Vendell Edward Henderson, a 22-year-old from Pierce County, faces serious charges following the shooting death of his father during a domestic dispute in their Spanaway home. The confrontation escalated rapidly, leading Henderson to allegedly shoot his father twice after a series of arguments over personal responsibilities and past grievances. Henderson's mother, who witnessed the incident, alerted authorities, resulting in deputies finding the victim with critical injuries. Henderson’s 14-year-old brother corroborated the events, describing the tumultuous atmosphere that preceded the gunfire. Following the incident, Henderson expressed deep emotional turmoil, claiming he was on edge due to stress and had consumed drugs earlier that morning.

He has a prior conviction that prohibits him from owning firearms, complicating the situation further. The court has set Henderson's bail at $1. 5 million as legal proceedings begin. This tragic case underscores ongoing issues surrounding family conflict, mental health, and the consequences of firearms in domestic settings.
