The fire broke out around 2:14 a. m. in the 1200 block of East 36th Street, reportedly igniting while cooking was taking place. Tacoma Fire media representative Chelsea Shepherd stated that the flames rapidly spread to the attic, causing significant structural damage.

Fortunately, the individual present was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, but they suffered the heartbreaking loss of their dog. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with cooking fires and the critical need for fire safety protocols.
