Multiple welfare check requests for South Hill residence before bodies found

Tacoma, WALocal News

In a shocking incident, four bodies were found inside a South Hill home following multiple welfare checks requested by concerned neighbors and family. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department revealed that the first welfare check took place on December 23, followed by additional checks on December 29 and 30, during which deputies did not have enough cause to enter the property. However, on December 31, new information provided sufficient justification for deputies to investigate further, leading to the discovery of a man and woman deceased inside the home. A search warrant allowed deputies to locate two additional bodies, prompting a death investigation by the medical examiner. Preliminary evaluations ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning, but the circumstances surrounding the deaths were described as unusual and not natural.

Authorities assured the public that there were no outstanding suspects and believed the incident was contained to the home. The investigation continues as officials await further details from the medical examiner. This tragic event raises concerns about community safety and the effectiveness of welfare checks in preventing such occurrences.
