Shooting in Downtown Puyallup Triggers Multi-Agency Police Response

A shooting incident in downtown Puyallup on Sunday resulted in a significant police response and an ongoing investigation. The event unfolded around 4:42 p. m. when two individuals exited a Pierce Transit bus and opened fire at a passenger seated in the back. Fortunately, the passenger, along with the four other bus occupants and the driver, were not injured in the attack.

Initial reports described the suspects as adult males in their 20s; however, police later updated this information, indicating they were likely under 18 years of age. As the investigation continues, law enforcement is utilizing assistance from multiple agencies, including a K-9 unit, to locate the suspects. Officers have recovered multiple shell casings from the scene, and the bus sustained damage from the gunfire. Police Chief Scott Engle expressed confidence in obtaining valuable camera footage from the bus and nearby surveillance systems, which may aid in identifying the suspects. The public is encouraged to come forward with any information related to the incident.
