New McDonald's Proposed for Pacific Avenue in Tacoma

A pre-application has been filed with the City of Tacoma for a new McDonald's restaurant at 3801 Pacific Avenue, which will feature a drive-thru and 47 parking stalls. The construction project is estimated to cost around $1 million, with permit submissions expected in February and a tentative construction start date in June 2024. Tacoma currently has ten McDonald's locations, and several others have recently filed for permits, indicating a trend of expansion within the fast-food sector. This proposal comes after an earlier plan for a 7-Eleven at the same site, underscoring the competitive landscape of fast-food in the region. In contrast to McDonald's growth, four Jack In The Box locations in Tacoma have closed due to code compliance issues, demonstrating a shift in the local fast-food market.

McDonald's is pursuing an aggressive global expansion plan aimed at surpassing 50,000 restaurants by 2027, with a focus on menu innovation and customer loyalty. The company's recent emphasis on chicken products has seen sales for chicken items rise alongside traditional beef offerings. Despite some setbacks, including a recent E. coli outbreak linked to its supply chain, McDonald's remains committed to growth and enhancing customer experience.
