Tacoma, WALocal News

A shooting in downtown Puyallup on December 22, 2024, resulted in an extensive response from local law enforcement and multiple agencies. At approximately 4:42 p. m. , two suspects exited a Pierce Transit bus and began firing at a passenger seated in the rear, who fortunately escaped injury along with other passengers and the driver. Initial reports indicated that both suspects were adult males in their 20s; however, subsequent updates revealed they are likely younger, possibly under 18 years old.

Police Chief Scott Engle confirmed the presence of multiple shell casings at the scene and noted that the bus suffered damage from the gunfire. Following protocol, the driver moved the bus to a safe location at a transit center. The investigation remains active, with law enforcement employing a K-9 unit and urging anyone with information to come forward. Additionally, Engle stated that the bus is equipped with cameras, which could provide valuable video evidence to help identify those responsible. The Puyallup community is left shaken by this incident, raising concerns over safety in public transportation.
