EFN Brings Food Drive and Empty Bowls to Lakewood Community

Tacoma, WALocal News

The Emergency Food Network (EFN) is hosting two significant events in December aimed at combating hunger and honoring the memory of fallen officers. The 15th Annual Fallen Officers Food Drive will take place on December 5 at the Lakewood Police Department, encouraging donations of food and money from 6 a. m. to 5:30 p. m.

This food drive commemorates the sacrifice of four officers who died in the line of duty in 2009 and has provided over 720,000 meals to those in need since its inception. Additionally, the Empty Bowls event on December 7 will celebrate local artistry and community spirit at EFN’s new facility, The Greens. Attendees can shop for unique bowls and enjoy a variety of soups, with all proceeds supporting EFN's efforts to provide food to more than 75 pantries and shelters in Pierce County. EFN CEO Michelle Douglas highlights the importance of these events in making a meaningful impact on the community. Last year, EFN distributed 14 million pounds of food, and the demand continues to grow, with over 250,000 visits to food pantry partners each month.

These events unite the community in a compassionate effort to alleviate hunger while honoring those who served.
