Tacoma Community House Expands Services to Parkland

Tacoma, WALocal News

Tacoma Community House (TCH) has announced the opening of a new site in Parkland, Washington, as part of its partnership with the United Way of Pierce County. This new location will enhance the Center for Strong Families program, focusing on providing financial coaching and employment assistance to low-income families. Executive Director Aimee Khuu highlighted the challenges faced by Parkland, including higher unemployment rates and significant health issues, which TCH aims to address through its services. Plans include offering additional programs such as English classes and immigration assistance. The introduction of community health workers, trained to engage with cultural communities, will facilitate access to essential healthcare services.

Since 2017, TCH's employment department has doubled in size, allowing it to serve a larger area. Financial Coach Mary Vargas and Employment Coach Viktoriia Tkachov will lead the initial programs at the new site, making this expansion crucial for families in Parkland who previously had to travel for these vital services.
