In Gig Harbor, three elderly women were targeted in a series of purse-snatching incidents, raising concerns within the local community. The thefts occurred on December 9, 11, and 12, with victims aged 73 to 80, all happening in grocery store parking lots. Police Chief Kelly Busey detailed the varying methods used by the suspects, including snatching purses left in shopping carts and jumping out of vehicles to commit the crimes. Tragically, one victim suffered significant facial injuries during an attempt to resist. The police have launched an intensive investigation and released images of suspects seen using stolen credit cards.

Authorities urge residents to be vigilant and take precautions with their belongings. Busey noted that such incidents are rare in Gig Harbor, although they can occur in waves. The community is encouraged to prioritize personal safety and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement.
