Tim Reid, a dedicated public servant and the longest-serving Commissioner of Metro Parks Tacoma, passed away at 78 on December 18, 2024. Serving since January 1996, Reid significantly enhanced Tacoma's park system through numerous initiatives. Known for his humor and strong problem-solving skills, he effectively navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, holding daily meetings with park executives to address community needs. His leadership transformed Superfund sites into thriving parks and led to the establishment of community centers and youth programs. Colleagues and family remember him as a caring mentor who strived to connect with both staff and residents.

His legacy is one of thoughtful stewardship and commitment to improving Tacoma. Reid is survived by his partner, children, and grandchildren, with a celebration of life planned for the upcoming year.
