A Pierce County Superior Court judge sentenced 33-year-old Dylan Thomas Robinson to five years to life in prison after he pleaded guilty to burglary and indecent liberties for breaking into dorms at Pacific Lutheran University. On May 14, 2023, Robinson accessed the South Hall dormitory by removing a window screen and assaulted two women while they were asleep. The victims described the traumatic aftermath, including ongoing panic attacks, fear of the dark, and a significantly altered sense of security. Robinson must serve a minimum of 65 months before he can petition for release, reflecting the indeterminate nature of his sentence. Judge Gretchen Leanderson emphasized the long-term effects of his actions on the victims and the overall sense of safety within the campus community.

The case highlights critical issues surrounding campus security and the pervasive impact of sexual violence. The victims expressed gratitude for their support systems but underscored the need for greater awareness and prevention measures, serving as a reminder of the importance of addressing sexual assault and fostering safe environments in educational institutions.
