Pierce Co. residents can receive free hams for the holidays | Tacoma News Tribune

Tacoma, WALocal News

The 'Hams for the Holidays' event at the Tacoma Dome on December 19, 2024, will provide free hams and alternatives to thousands of Pierce County residents. Organized by Commencement Bank in collaboration with Tacoma Venues & Events and Nourish Pierce County, this initiative responds to the rising need for food assistance in the area. Commencement Bank's CEO, John E. Manolides, emphasized the bank's commitment to supporting local communities, noting that there had been no similar holiday events this season. The organization initially set a goal of distributing 1,000 hams but has since expanded that target to over 2,000 families.

Participants can register for the event via the Commencement Bank website or Eventbrite. The giveaway operates from noon to 3 p. m. in Parking Lot G of the Tacoma Dome. This effort not only aims to alleviate food insecurity but also fosters community spirit during the holiday season, showcasing the collaborative efforts of local organizations to make a meaningful impact on families in need.
