Deb Krishnadasan has been appointed as the new state senator for Washington's 26th Legislative District, succeeding U. S. Rep. -elect Emily Randall. The appointment was made during a joint meeting of officials from Pierce and Kitsap counties, highlighting the collaborative nature of the process.

Krishnadasan has a notable history in education advocacy, having served on the Peninsula School District board for six years and co-founding Stand Up for Peninsula Schools. In her introductory remarks, she emphasized her priorities, including enhancing educational opportunities and addressing the rising cost of living. A special election is set for November to fill the remainder of Randall’s Senate term, with State Rep. Michelle Caldier already announcing her campaign for the seat.
