On December 8, 2024, a 22-year-old man was shot in the hip while walking with a female friend in Sumner, WA. Sumner police, who were in the area, responded to gunfire around 11:30 p. m. and found the victim injured. He reported that a group of males approached them and began shooting, and he believes he recognizes one of the attackers.

The man was quickly transported to Tacoma General Hospital, where he is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries. Police have labeled the shooting as an isolated incident and assured the public that there is no ongoing threat. They are actively seeking assistance from anyone with information or surveillance footage related to the event.
