A significant mixed-use development project is planned for downtown Puyallup, proposed by Palindrome Development for a city-owned property at 115 Second St. SE. This location has been under city ownership for over 20 years and is set to undergo transformation, breaking ground in early 2026 with expected completion by mid-2027. Palindrome's proposal includes mixed-income rental housing, for-sale townhomes, and a food hall featuring a craft beer brewery, modeled after Palindrome's successful operation in Portland, known for its diverse offerings from independent restaurants. City spokesperson Eric Johnson mentioned that a public presentation will take place on December 10, where Palindrome will provide additional details and visual renderings of the project.
