Police reports: Tacoma woman hit and killed by school bus | Tacoma News Tribune

Tacoma, WALocal News

On October 4, 2024, Brittanee Parker, a 32-year-old Tacoma resident, was tragically killed after being struck by a school bus while walking her black Labrador mix, Oliver. The bus driver initially thought she had hit a dog and did not realize a person had been struck. Police found Parker's body on South 11th Street, raising questions about the circumstances of her death. Reports indicate that she was crossing the street in dark, rainy conditions, which made visibility difficult for the driver. An autopsy revealed severe injuries, including significant damage to her heart.

Parker's family is frustrated by the ongoing investigation and the lack of communication regarding potential charges against the driver. This incident has ignited discussions about pedestrian safety in Tacoma, particularly concerning school bus operations.
