On December 8, a 22-year-old man was shot in Sumner, Washington, while walking with a female friend shortly before midnight. Police reported hearing gunshots from their station and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the hip near Academy Street and Kincaid Avenue. The victim stated that a group of males approached them and began firing. He believes he may recognize one of the individuals in the group. After the shooting, he was transported to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The police emphasized that this appears to be an isolated incident, assuring the community that there is no ongoing threat. Authorities encourage anyone with relevant information or surveillance footage to contact the Sumner police at 253-299-5678.
