Pre-qualification of Electrical Contractors - Tacoma Public Utilities

Tacoma, WALocal News

Tacoma Power is initiating the prequalification process for electrical contractors who wish to bid on utility projects in 2024, as required by the Revised Code of Washington (RCW 35. 92. 350). Contractors must fill out a standard questionnaire that evaluates their financial stability and prior experience in electrical construction. This prequalification is vital for ensuring that only capable and experienced contractors participate in the bidding process, which is crucial for maintaining safety and quality standards in the utility sector.

Additionally, contractors must provide their Washington State Workers’ Compensation Experience Factor; those with a rating above 1. 0 may undergo further scrutiny. The application process is free, and contractors are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to secure their eligibility. Tacoma Power will review applications and notify contractors of their prequalification status within two weeks. An online list of prequalified contractors will also be available for verification.

This initiative by Tacoma Power aims to streamline the bidding process and uphold the integrity of utility project management.
