Tacoma City Council Approves Initiatives for Infrastructure and Senior Services

Tacoma, WALocal News

In a recent meeting, the Tacoma City Council approved several initiatives focused on enhancing local infrastructure and community services. A key resolution allows for the continuation of critical street improvements without raising taxes, as the new tax rate will replace an expiring 0. 1 percent sales tax set to end in March 2026. This decision underscores the Council's commitment to maintaining and improving transportation infrastructure. Furthermore, the Council has allocated $30,000 to support the transition of senior services through a partnership with Metro Parks Tacoma, highlighting a focus on the well-being of residents aged 50 and older.

The city plans to hold workshops and town halls to ensure community engagement and transparency regarding these initiatives, with a hybrid format for both in-person and virtual attendance. These measures reflect Tacoma's dedication to enhancing the quality of life for its citizens while actively seeking their feedback on these important developments.
