Pierce County man charged with rape following SWAT standoff

Tacoma, WALocal News

Daniel James Redwine, 44, was arrested after a two-hour SWAT standoff in Pierce County and faces serious charges including second-degree rape, second-degree assault, and unlawful imprisonment. The charges arise from an incident where Redwine allegedly choked and raped a woman he had previously been intimate with, despite her pleas for him to stop. The victim has expressed intense fear for her safety if he is released, which was echoed in a victim impact statement from her sister, detailing the psychological toll on the victim, who suffers from anxiety, PTSD, and agoraphobia. Redwine's bail is set at $500,000, and he has pleaded not guilty. His extensive criminal history, including a recent conviction for attempting to elude police, raises serious concerns about public safety in the community.
