Famous Dave’s closing Tacoma and Tukwila restaurants | Tacoma News Tribune

Tacoma, WALocal News

Famous Dave’s, the popular barbecue chain, has closed its last two locations in Western Washington, specifically in Tacoma and Tukwila, as of December 4, 2024. The franchise owner, Ascend Hospitality Group, announced the closures on social media, expressing appreciation for the community's support over the years. Affected employees received compensation and job-seeking assistance during this transition. The Tacoma restaurant had recently undergone renovations and hosted a reopening event earlier in the year. With these closures, only one Famous Dave’s remains in Yakima, Washington.

This decision reflects broader struggles faced by the chain following a merger with MTY Food Group, which has led to multiple closures nationwide. The closures mark a significant change for local barbecue enthusiasts, as these locations were popular for gatherings and celebrations.
