Bundok Books opened in Puyallup, addressing the community's need for an independent bookstore following the closure of Borders and Puyallup Book Mark. The grand opening, themed "Christmas in July," spans three days with author signings and events. Owners Sascha and Gem Schaudies highlight their commitment to inclusivity by curating a selection of books for LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and API readers. The store's location in the Willows Shopping Center became available when The Tux Shop vacated, allowing the couple to realize their long-held dream. Sascha, who focuses on local nature and outdoor activities, shares insights through "Mountain Minute" videos on social media.

Gem, with a background in creative writing and librarianship, aims to help underrepresented communities see themselves in literature. Bundok Books represents a significant addition to Puyallup's cultural landscape, providing a space for exploration and connection. The store's unique offerings foster a sense of belonging and community engagement.
