Sister Cities pays tribute to Debbie Bingham

Tacoma Sister Cities celebrated Debbie Bingham's 16 years of service during a gathering at city hall on June 25. Bingham, who will remain as the Business and Economic Development Program Manager, is stepping down from her role as the city liaison, which will now be managed by the Mayor’s Office. Colleagues like Tacoma Sister Cities chair Clare Petrich and vice chair Frances Lorenz expressed their gratitude for her dedication and contributions to the program. Bingham presented a slideshow highlighting her experiences, including her involvement in the ting installation at Chinese Reconciliation Park and the historic visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2015. She fondly remembered her time in Japan and the joy of facilitating international exchanges.

Bingham’s leadership helped strengthen bonds between Tacoma and its sister cities, promoting peace and cooperation. The celebration reflected the community's appreciation for her work and the connections she fostered. Her transition marks a new chapter for Tacoma Sister Cities, with the hope of continuing her legacy of engagement.
