County seeks public input on homelessness plan

Tacoma, WALocal News

Pierce County Human Services invites the community to engage in shaping its five-year Comprehensive Plan to End Homelessness during a public session on July 19 at the University of Washington-Tacoma. This event is designed to build on input gathered from a previous session in April, where community members discussed homelessness data and accountability measures. Devon Isakson, Social Services Supervisor, highlighted the necessity of incorporating feedback from those directly affected by homelessness. Due to limited seating, interested participants must register in advance. Additionally, a virtual session is scheduled for September to accommodate those unable to attend in person.

Feedback will also be gathered online from July 5-26 via the county's website. The original Comprehensive Plan was adopted in March 2022 and aims to meet state goals to enhance the homeless response system and ensure stable housing for all. Community involvement is critical as the updated plan must be finalized by the end of 2025.
