Local surprise go-kart build for young man with autism

Sunnyside, WALocal News

A local community came together to restore a go-kart for Cody, a 20-year-old with severe autism, after his family sought assistance. Kyle Cavin and Justin Stevens led the effort, transforming the worn-out kart into a fully equipped off-road vehicle featuring full suspension, an electric start engine, and LED lights. Cody eagerly checked in on the project daily, and his ecstatic reaction during the unveiling highlighted the importance of community kindness. "Seeing that smile — it was awesome," Cavin expressed, reflecting on the joy they brought to Cody. Stevens emphasized the need for local support in challenging times, stating, "the community comes first.

" The project not only restored Cody's go-kart but also reinforced the values of positivity and togetherness in a turbulent world. As summer approaches, Cody is excited to spend time riding his newly restored go-kart. The story illustrates how acts of kindness can create meaningful change within a community.
