Yakima hosts police week ceremony at Sarg Hubbard park

The Yakima Police Department held a ceremony at Sarg Hubbard Park to honor fallen officers during National Law Enforcement Week. Retired Police Sergeant Mike Amos reported that 165 officers were killed nationwide, including Trooper Christopher Gadd from Washington. Wapato Police Chief Craig Janis reflected on the community support he has witnessed during the funerals of fallen officers, illustrating the strong bond between law enforcement and the community. The ceremony also addressed the significant stress law enforcement personnel experience, underscoring the need for resources to support officers and their families.

Boyle stressed that it is crucial for law enforcement leaders to provide necessary support to their teams. Despite the challenges, Lieutenant Jacob Church affirmed that officers remain proud of their work in keeping communities safe.
