Yakima County Fire Marshal issues residential outdoor burn restriction

Sunnyside, WALocal News

The Yakima County Fire Marshal announced a burn ban for unincorporated Yakima County from June 1 to September 1, 2025, due to expected high temperatures and dry conditions. This ban prohibits all residential outdoor burning, including bonfires and recreational fires. Outdoor fireplaces and cooking appliances remain permissible under the new restrictions. Agricultural burning may still occur if permitted by the Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency. The initiative aims to prevent human-caused fires that could strain resources needed for wildfire management.

Yakima County collaborates with federal and state agencies to protect citizens and property from uncontrolled fires. Violators of this burn ban may incur fines up to $1,000 and possible arrest. Residents are encouraged to report violations to the Yakima County Sheriff's Office.
