The City of Sunnyside plans to convert two intersections into four-way stops to improve safety and traffic flow, responding to concerns raised by residents and businesses. Interim Public Works Director Cus Arteaga outlined the proposal at a May 5, 2025 study session, highlighting the intersections at South 5th Street and Edison Avenue, and South 9th Street and Edison Avenue. Community feedback has been actively sought, with local businesses consulted to mitigate any adverse effects on commerce. The City Council encourages public participation during the comment period at the May 12 meeting, which will take place at 6:00 PM in the City Council Chambers. Residents can submit written feedback to the City Clerk’s Office before the meeting.

These changes aim to enhance pedestrian safety, improve visibility, and reduce congestion. Traffic safety has become a pressing issue for the community, making this public input vital for the decision-making process.
