Volunteers to Spruce Up Downtown Ellensburg in Annual Spring Cleanup Event

Tomorrow, downtown Ellensburg will come alive as over 50 volunteers gather for a spring cleanup event organized by the Ellensburg Downtown Association (EDA). Running from 10 a. m. to 1 p. m.

, the initiative focuses on beautifying the city's core through essential tasks such as sweeping, raking, and garbage collection. With a mission to empower and preserve the community, the EDA aims to enhance the local economy and create a welcoming atmosphere for all. Volunteers will be equipped with supplies and snacks, with EDA staff present to guide and train participants. This year’s event marks a significant collaboration with Central Washington University’s Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement (SLICE) office, emphasizing the importance of student involvement in local activities. Historically, the cleanup draws support from a variety of groups, including CWU student organizations, local families, and businesses.

The EDA organizes two major cleanup events each year to prepare the area for the upcoming seasons, fostering community connections and improving the visual appeal of Ellensburg's business district. Volunteer registration has reached full capacity, reflecting the strong community support for the initiative.
