In contrast, firefighting efforts for the Pipe Creek Fire continue, which prompted the closure of State Route 97 near Blewett Pass. The highway reopened at 6 a. m.

on August 22, signaling progress in the response. Firefighting operations involve aircraft dropping water and heavy equipment working to build containment lines. Officials do not expect any evacuations at this time, indicating effective management of the situation.
