Special education schools opening in Ellensburg and Maple Valley

Washington Spectrum Schools will open K-12 private special education programs in Ellensburg and Maple Valley this school year, catering specifically to students with behavioral and learning disabilities like autism and ADHD. Executive Director Lesley Pahl asserts that the schools will focus on individualized instruction to facilitate meaningful progress for each student. The curriculum aims to prepare students for a successful transition into adulthood following graduation. Each campus will provide personalized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, ensuring tailored support for diverse learning needs. Open enrollment is currently underway, inviting families to schedule private tours or participate in open house meetings.

An information session regarding the program will occur on Monday, August 4, from 10 a. m. to 11 a. m. at Hal Holmes Community Center.

The establishment of these programs reflects a growing commitment to specialized education in the region. This initiative aims to address the needs of students who require additional support in their educational journeys.
