A tragic incident occurred in Wareham, Massachusetts, on July 4, when 70-year-old Robert Spagnuolo died after being hit by a firework. Wareham police responded to a 911 call shortly before 9:30 p. m. and discovered Spagnuolo suffering from a significant facial injury. Witnesses reported that he was setting off fireworks on the beach when one exploded, resulting in fatal injuries.

The Massachusetts State Police, along with the Bomb Squad, were called to the scene to ensure there were no additional explosive hazards. The investigation into Spagnuolo's death is ongoing, with the medical examiner tasked with determining the cause and manner of death.
